  • WHAT IS SUREKHA RICE? Surekha (pronounced sir-RAY-ka) is nutritionally closer to brown rice than white rice because of the ancient processing technique of 'parboiling'. After being harvested, the grains get steamed in their husks (not done to conventional rice's) to lock in nutrients and fiber. The process also hardens the grains, so they stay firm and separate.

Details: Maya Kaimal Fine Indian Foods Organic Surekha Rice has a sweet-earthy taste and separate grains that never stick together. It’s very different from such well-known varieties as Basmati, jasmine, brown or white rice because-unlike other rice-it is ‘parboiled’ before being de-husked. The resulting grains look like White rice but are harder and contain additional nutrients which get forced from the husk into the grains during the steaming process. Our pouches are a convenient way to enjoy this special varieties are fully cooked and can be microwaved in 90 seconds.
